Synopsis

Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:

1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.

No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.

But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?

Review

Alessandra starts with a goal, she observes what others do and does the opposite to attract attention. She gets the attention of the Shadow King by just doing that and also gets to dance with the King himself due to this. Not only does The Shadow King invite her to court at the palace but also eventually asks her to court him. He plays a number of tests and many people in the palace are curious as to why Alessandra is at the palace and why The Shadow King is so interested in her.

The Story plays out, she has to befriend people at the palace to get to know more of the King Kallias and also why he has shadows around him and why people cannot touch him. Eventually she finds out the reason is to why all these people are living at the palace and it's due to them being present the time his parents were killed along side his brother Xanthos.

The storyline, grows and blossoms into a page turner book, and a love story of multiple characters in the book. Kallias becomes more intriguing for Alessandra and she then comes to a decision that she is actually falling for the king and the part where she wants to kill him fades with all the rest of her ideas of becoming the queen alone.

Overall, if you love twists of plots, scheming and a love triangle and a little bit of fun and games, this is the book you should read next! I am here currently hoping the Author continues this with another book as i'd love to know more and what happens next.
