Synopsis

Fall in love, break the curse.

Cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year, Prince Rhen, the heir of Emberfall, thought he could be saved easily if a girl fell for him. But that was before he turned into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction. Before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.

Nothing has ever been easy for Harper. With her father long gone, her mother dying, and her brother constantly underestimating her because of her cerebral palsy, Harper learned to be tough enough to survive. When she tries to save a stranger on the streets of Washington, DC, she's pulled into a magical world.

Break the curse, save the kingdom.

Harper doesn't know where she is or what to believe. A prince? A curse? A monster? As she spends time with Rhen in this enchanted land, she begins to understand what's at stake. And as Rhen realises Harper is not just another girl to charm, his hope comes flooding back. But powerful forces are standing against Emberfall . . . and it will take more than a broken curse to save Harper, Rhen, and his people from utter ruin

Review

OMG! If you are looking for a Beauty and the Beast retelling with a twist, please go out to your nearest bookstore and pick this book up! I had it on my bookshelf for about a month and a half and was eargly waiting for the best time to sit down and read it. I read it in about 4 days!

The story line is about a crown prince named Rhen and his monstrous curse that resets every season (3 months). His commander Grey is only allowed once for an hour to head on over to our world to collect a girl willing enough to fall in love with the prince before the season breaks. If this doesn't happen well let's just say a beast does some damage.

Long story short, Harper was witnessing an unfortunate quarrel between a man and a girl and she ended up taken captive and transported to Emberfell stuck in a castle. The story goes on to share the most beautiful storyline of these three characters and how they make it through the last season of the curse which puts a lot of pressure on both Rhen and Harper to say the least.

The ending was one you would have never guessed and took me by surprise so i'm here writing out this review and checking out the second book in the series because I cannot wait any longer and need to know what happens next.

Overall, the book itself is very easy to read, the characters are so well described, we see a normal girl who suffers from cerebral palsy and to each and every person it can be different and symptoms can be so different to another person with this too. I love how courageous Harper as a character was and seeing the chemistry between the main three characters which were Harper, Rhen and also Grey. You will not be disappointed if you love Kingdom Fantasy and also if you love a modern twist on The Beauty and the Beast.
