Synopsis

He will be the destruction of the crown and the ruination of the throne.

Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold on to. Jude learned that lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.

Now, as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is left reeling from Cardan's betrayal. She bides her time, determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines, she becomes ensnared in the conflict's bloody politics.

And when a terrible curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity....

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black comes the highly anticipated and jaw-dropping finale to the Folk of the Air series.

Review

What can I say, This was a page turner. I started the book late saturday evening and read just 50 pages. Woke up Sunday morning and read for 4 hours and finished it before noon. This was a trilogy I didn't want to end. With every book, you just wanted to read the next in the series and for this being the last and how the last book ended I gave myself one week before I put my head back into Faerieland.

Jude was exiled from Faerieland. The book starts off with Jude being so angry at Cardan for everything and for being exiled to the Mortal World. It evolves into Taryn coming back to the mortal world seeking help to pose as her twin and for Jude to take her place after Taryn Murdered Locke, her husband.

Since Jude had to impersonate her twin, she would only hope Cardan wouldn't notice but I was so glad he did but they didn't have much time together as Jude was taken by Madoc. Scheming unfolded and I was so interested in the whole storyline.

War was upon the land and I love how Cardan sacrificed his life to protect the land. He turns into the black snake. Jude was so brave to do what she did and what was amazing was that after all the torture and the schemes Cardan came back to her and the curse was broken.

Overall, what a fantastic story. I want more, way more than three books. I was not disappointed in the last book but I did want to see more of their ruling after the coronation. I really hope Holly Black does dive into the storyline again as Jude and Cardan are beautiful characters that deserve more and i'm sure others like me would like to read more on these.
