2020 has been a difficult year for most of us. The coronavirus and Covid-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc with our day to day lives and our routines. Those of us who are lucky enough to have avoided or overcome the virus itself are still experiencing countless issues as a direct result of its presence in the world. This can be difficult and the pandemic has gone on a lot longer than most of us expected, so you may be looking for different ways to deal with the challenges you’re facing. If this sounds familiar, you’re in the right place. We’ll run through some of the most common struggles that people are facing right now and will provide a few tips that will help you to overcome them as best possible!

Financial Troubles

The first common area that people are struggling with right now is financial difficulties. The coronavirus pandemic has caused financial chaos and we are now expecting an economic crisis. Countless companies have collapsed as a result of not being able to operate through lockdown periods. Many of those that have survived are making limited profits due to limited capacity in stores to abide by social distancing guidelines and regulations. This has resulted in job losses, redundancies, reduced salaries and reduced working hours for many workers. Without an income, it can feel really difficult to get by. But there are options that can help you. You should:

  • Check what help you’re entitled to - there are many furlough schemes, self employed grants and other forms of help out there that could help you to get by for the time being.

  • Consider essential key worker positions - many positions that require no experience and little training are hiring due to increased demand. These can include supermarket staff, delivery drivers and other positions that could generate an income for you.

  • Use savings - if you have savings, now may be the time to dip into them.

  • Consider loans - if you have a new job lined up or your hours are going to increase, a loan could tide you over. There are loans for bad credit out there. Just make sure to check the interest rate and ensure you can afford the repayments.

Loneliness and Isolation

Another issue people are struggling with is loneliness and isolation. We can’t all see the people we want to right now. But that doesn’t mean you have to shut yourself off from the world. Instead, try to keep in touch with your loved ones through messages, video calls and other means of virtual communication.

Boredom

When you’re isolating, or when you’re in a lockdown, boredom can strike too. But there are plenty of activities you can try from home. Baking has been a big hit. So has learning a new language, arts and crafts, writing, home workouts and more.

The above areas aren’t a list of every difficulty everyone is facing. But they are some of the most common issues being faced. So, hopefully, if you’re struggling with any of them, the above advice can help you out!
